Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 19, 2025
Tidylit (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use tidylit.com (the “Service”), how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in through a third-party provider (currently Google), we receive and store:
- Your name
- Email address
- Profile image URL
We do not receive or store your password. Authentication is handled entirely by the third-party provider.
Usage Data
When you use the Service, we store your book tracking activity — specifically which books you mark as “owned” or “wanted.” This data is associated with your account and is not shared publicly.
Automatically Collected Data
Like most websites, our servers may log standard request information such as IP addresses, browser type, and referring pages. We use this data for operational purposes (e.g., debugging, abuse prevention) and do not use it for tracking or advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain your account and book tracking features.
- Improve and develop the Service.
- Communicate with you about your account if necessary.
- Prevent abuse and ensure security of the Service.
3. What We Don’t Do
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising or behavioral targeting.
- We do not share your book lists or reading activity publicly unless you choose to.
4. Third-Party Services
Authentication Providers
We use Google Sign-In for authentication. When you sign in, Google’s own privacy policy governs the data they collect. We only receive the profile data listed above.
Affiliate Links
When you click an affiliate link (e.g., to Bookshop.org or Amazon), you leave Tidylit and are subject to that retailer’s privacy policy. These retailers may use cookies or other tracking to attribute the referral. Tidylit does not control or have access to data collected by these third parties.
Hosting & Infrastructure
The Service is hosted on third-party infrastructure providers. These providers may process server logs and request data as part of normal operations, subject to their own privacy policies.
5. Cookies
Tidylit uses essential cookies for authentication (keeping you signed in). We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party tracking pixels.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data and book tracking activity for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable timeframe.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Delete your account and associated data by contacting us.
- Correct inaccurate personal data by contacting us.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@tidylit.com.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
