Plato (c. 427-347 BCE) was a classical Athenian philosopher and writer, known for his foundational contributions to Western philosophy. Born and died in Athens, he is best known for his dialogues exploring ethics, politics, and metaphysics. His works, including "The Republic," continue to influence philosophical thought today.
