Marguerite Yourcenar

Marguerite Yourcenar (1903-1987) was a French author born in Brussels. She is renowned for her historical novels and essays, notably "Memoirs of Hadrian." Yourcenar was the first woman elected to the Académie Française in 1980. She spent her later years in Bar Harbor, Maine.
