Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) was a Lebanese-American poet, writer, and philosopher, born in Bsharri in the Ottoman Empire. He is best known for his book "The Prophet," which has been translated into numerous languages and remains a significant work in modern literature. Gibran spent much of his later life in New York City, where he became a prominent figure in the literary community.
